Football Manager Story: Part 1 Catch Up

Football Manager is made into such a gripping and addictive game by the stories which are created throughout a save. The Football Manager content produced on this blog will detail the story which has developed on my long term Football Manager 2013 save!

I’ll be uploading individual player stories, as well as keeping you all up to date on how the current seasons unfold!

So, with the save currently in the 2033/34 Season, this first post will serve as a little catch up!

Background:

In the summer of 2013, I took over the job of my supported club, Manchester City, from Roberto Mancini. Taking over such a well structured club right at the start of a save could seem like a cop out; however I felt to get to grips with the games mechanics, taking over City would be the perfect start.

My two seasons at City was an inevitably resounding success, winning the Community Shield twice in 2012 and 2013, the Capital One Cup in 2013, the Premier League in both the 12/13 and 13/14 seasons whilst the FA Cup, Champions League, European Super Cup and Club World Championship were all also claimed in the calender year of 2013.

Man City career

Success at City earned me a shot at the England Job, taking over just in time to Lead the national team to glory in the 2014 World Cup, before promptly resigning from the post at the conclusion of the competition to seek out a new management adventure.

England Career

Delfino Pescara had just been relegated to Serie B, sacking their manager in the process. I looked into the club’s history and found that they hadn’t won a major competition in their history, had a decent sized stadium, secure finances and they’d retired the 12 shirt number in dedication to their fans. I instantly fell in love with the club and decided to build my FM 13 dynasty here.

During my time at Pescara, the club has become THE dominant force in world football. We won promotion as Champions immediately, winning the Italian Cup along the way to secure European football for the first time in the club’s history.

The next season, Pescara were crowned Serie A champions for the first time

Pescara Promted champions

A feat which has been repeated every year barring the 23/24 season when Atalanta won the title courtesy of a better head to head record.

Atalanta Champions

In their first season in the Europa League, Pescara made it all the way to the final to face English giants Chelsea. They led 3-2 until the final five minutes when Carlos Tevez (sold by me from City to Chelsea) scored an equaliser, then the winner in extra time.

Pescara, however, made a triumphant return to Europe the following season, winning the Champions League for the first time. In fact, Pescara have only failed to win the competition on two occasions, against Manchester United in 17/18 and ten years later against Real Madrid in 27/28.

However, barring these blips, Pescara have managed to win a staggering 96 trophies during my reign at the club.

The next update will either be a player analysis on one of the most decorated players in the club’s history, or the 2033/34 season review, whichever comes first!

See you next time!
